On October 13, 2023, Australian Sky News host Erin Molan sat next to Dr. Randa Abdel-Fattah, a pro-Palestinian author who was justifying Hamas’ brutal massacre of innocent Israelis a few days prior.

“I don’t see them as terrorists,” Abdel-Fattah said, as she spoke about how October 7 was bound to happen because of the alleged “ethnic cleansing” and “genocide” happening in Gaza.

“There has been violence from both sides over many, many years,” Erin retorted.

“Wrong,” Abdel-Fattah interrupted. “Not equal.”

Erin continued, “What occurred on Saturday, by Hamas, was beyond anything we have ever seen before. There is no way you can sit there and not condemn the actions of Hamas.”

Hearing this from a news anchor was refreshing; just days after October 7, many news outlets had already started pushing pro-Palestinian propaganda. Those who spoke up for Israel were in the minority. But Erin couldn’t keep quiet.

“There was zero justification for what happened on October 7,” she told Aish. “Anyone who would not stand with the victims of such an attack are morally destitute in my mind.”

In her newscasts, Erin would continually defend the Jewish state – up until her abrupt dismissal from Sky News in December of 2024. She didn’t say if she was let go due to her support of Israel; however, it hasn’t stopped her from speaking up.

After her dismissal, she visited Israel, went on ILTV to broadcast the opening monologue, and met with President Isaac Herzog. She told him, “I assure you the vast majority of Australians stand with you.”

While Erin was in Israel, she also toured the destruction from October 7 and came out of the experience with a surprising takeaway.

“I saw for myself what I already knew and did not need to see in person to believe,” she said. “It was lifechanging for me. What I left with was this unbelievable appreciation for the people of Israel and the Jewish population. I walked into a kibbutz where people were slaughtered, and there were 20 men there digging holes, trying to rebuild. They came in from New York, London and France, and said, ‘We don’t know anyone here. We just came to help.’ It was just the most incredible thing.”

Erin on the Media’s Anti-Israel Stance

It’s clear that many media outlets are left leaning. But it’s not so clear why those values go hand in hand with an anti-Israel stance, according to Erin.

“It doesn’t make that much sense at all,” she said. “I guess they are much more prone to being taken over by ideologies.”

She also sees that the leaders of these news organizations are anti-Israel, and they hire others who have the same opinion.

“The culture of every organization is set at the top,” Erin said. “In terms of a television network, it’s set at the top how our ethics and morals will guide the narrative we tell. People are clearly sympathetic to terrorists from those organizations, and that filters down unfortunately.”

Since October 7, it’s gotten even worse. As Erin bluntly put it, “The whole system has basically gone to hell since then. The majority of the media was pretty bad prior in terms of the way they conducted themselves.”

It’s obvious to the newscaster that there are widespread campaigns putting out anti-Israel propaganda and trying to control the narrative.

“I am not an investigative journalist, but I think you’d be completely stupid and naive not to think there are much bigger things at play here, even in terms of how this information is pushed and manipulated through social media algorithm,” she said. “There is a very sophisticated operation that has successfully released a propaganda campaign to hurt Israel.”

Taking a Personal Risk for a Greater Purpose

Like others who are outspoken about Israel, Erin receives her fair share of hate.

“I get death threats daily,” she said. “My [six-year-old] daughter is threatened. My life has changed in ways I never would have chosen prior to October 7. If you told me 18 months ago that there will be a terrorist attack, that 1,200 people would be slaughtered and the terrorists would record it, hostages would be taken, and I’d be considered controversial for the taking the stance that I oppose this, I’d say you are dreaming. There is no chance. This is too far-fetched. But here we are, 18 months later.”

If people like me don’t speak up, in two, five, or 10 years the world my daughter lives in will be much, much worse.

Erin constantly has a battle going on in her head: should she continue to speak her mind, or should she keep quiet to protect herself and her daughter?

“I’m trying to figure out that if what I’m doing is the best for her,” she said. “I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s harder for me right now, but if people like me don’t speak up, in two, five, or 10 years the world my daughter lives in will be much, much worse.”

Erin’s Inspiring Words to the Jewish Community

Australia has been a hotbed of antisemitism since October 7. But as Erin, a former sports broadcaster put it, if she were covering a car race, she wouldn’t show you the 60 cars that drove perfectly.

“I’d show you the three cars that crashed because it is the most gripping and exciting television,” she said. “I see that as how Australia is being portrayed at the moment.”

The bad news is being amplified, but from Erin’s point of view, the vast majority of people in her country are, “strong and empathetic and stand against terrorism,” she said. “Unfortunately, we have cohorts of people who are vile and antisemitic and they are dedicated to bringing down Western civilization. Our PM did not set the tone strongly enough after October 7 or say, ‘This is abhorrent, and we do not accept this in our country.’ We didn’t see anyone get arrested for violence against Jews.”

Still, the Jewish people should not feel like they’ve been abandoned.

I understand why you feel alone, but the silent majority stands with you.

“You are far less alone than you might feel,” Erin said. “I understand why you feel alone, but the silent majority stands with you.”

Now that Erin is a free agent, she’s been broadcasting her own online show called,“69 X Minutes,” where her tagline is, “no fluff, no talking heads, just the real unfiltered chaos in the world as it happens.” She interviewed pro-Israel figures like Bill Ackman, Gad Saad, and Rabbi Pinchas Goldschmidt, the exiled chief rabbi of Moscow.

Erin is also doing speaking gigs for both Jewish and non-Jewish audiences and trying, in all her work, to show the world what’s really going on.

“This is the first time I’m living my truth,” she said. “I want to keep doing that and reaching the most amount of people as possible.”
